Crazy Week!!!

This has been THE CRAZIEST week! Friday of last week a team at Huntsman had a meeting to decide Darin’s course of treatment for his cancer. They had narrowed it down to two choices, and honestly, we weren’t thrilled with either option, but we’ve made the decision and we are ready to move forward. That night Lindsay didn’t feel great. Saturday she had high fevers and slept for 22 hours! Sunday she woke up with a fever of 104.7. We consulted two doctors, gave her a Covid test (negative), and kept monitoring. She continued sleeping most of the day.

Sunday night her fever got up to 105.2 so we took her to the ER. They did a bunch of blood work, tests etc, and found a lump in her groin. They told us to take antibiotics and if didn’t go away by Tuesday, to go to PCMC for imaging.

Monday morning we closed on our new house! Yay! When we got home from signing, we found a bunch of target looking welts all over Lindsay’s skin. We met with an NP, and decided to continue monitoring overnight.

Tuesday we went into the doctor and had more blood tests done and more negative results. The doctor had us go to the ER for more blood tests done (which turned into a big fiasco, but we got it done). She also barfed while we were waiting to be seen.  The doctor told us to talk to the school about possibly pulling her out of school for the term and homeschooling so she can get as much sleep as possible.

Wednesday morning Andrew had his tonsils removed. Right before he went back they had us sign a paper to consent to removing his adenoids if they were a problem. Apparently his adenoids were even worse than his tonsils!! Andrew is good as long as his is medicated, and Lindsay continued sleeping 18-20 hours a day.

Thursday I got a call from the school saying Lucy had had a head injury!! 🤕 Luckily it wasn’t anything serious, (a kid kicked her in the face coming down the slide at recess) but she had a nice bruise of a shoe print on her face for a day. Darin and Matt worked hard to remove all the carpet from the new house!

Friday at 1am Matt woke up saying he had a fever and was sick. He took some medicine and was better by morning! Yay! We also had our first appointment with the radiologist up at Huntsman. We’ve got a plan in place for Darin and we ready to move forward. Lindsay continued being sick and Andrew continued meds and lots of screen time!

Saturday Lindsay woke up with some energy, no fever, and finally ate for the first time since the previous Friday!! We are still waiting for blood results that we probably won’t get back until Tuesday, but we are just thrilled that she is turning a corner!! And to add a cherry on top, Lindsay got the sweetest, most thoughtful gift basket from her cheer team!! She was ecstatic and I was weepy! 🥹

We have been so thankful for the goodness and kindness of our friend, family, and neighbors (both current and our new neighbors too). I feel like I am an A+ text responder, but now I’m a D+ at best!
