First Day of Summer

Have you seen this Hokulia Hut?

This is a very unique picture because it's the only time I've seen it without a HUGE line.

I've been really curious to try it, and now I know why it is so popular.

The Hawaiian ice is DELICIOUS!!!

They have lots of flavors and different add-ons.

 

Lindsay and I shared the "Short Board.".  

We had cherry coconut, blue Hawaii, and mango, and we got the whole thing "Snow Capped."

Darin and Matt shared the "Big Kahuna.".  

They had tigers blood, passion fruit, and pina colada, 

and the whole thing filled with macadamia nut ice-cream.  SOOO good!!

After we got our shaved ice we headed over to Bountiful's Concert in the Park.

The best part was watching Matt and Lindsay dance.

We also saw my parents there.  Dad shared his cinnamon bears with the kids.

Matt is getting to be such a big boy and good helper!

He carried my chair all the way back to the car!

When we got home we all got into our PJs and the boys slept out on the tramp 

while Lindsay and I fell asleep watching "The Little Mermaid" in my bed.

Matt is seriously so lucky to have such a fun dad!

I dare say, this was the PERFECT way to start summer!

2 Months

When did my newborn become a baby?

Andrew is getting so big!

We sure love this cute boy!!  

I can't believe how much he has changed.

And now, for some random Andrew info:

1- If you are with him in the morning, he will almost always smile on cue.

2- When he was 6.5 weeks old, he slept 6.5 hours at night.

3- He loves Matt and Lindsay and will turn at the sound of their voice (even over mine).

4- If he cries and I pick him up, he'll stop crying within seconds

(except for when he had his eye infection)

5- I've had people ask me where he got his name.  Here's the explanation:

I've always liked the name Andrew--which means "strong, manly, brave" and I love that!

His middle name, Clark, has a lot of meaning.  My brother Rick, and Darin's brother Tom both have the middle name Clark.  Darin's dad's mom's maiden name is Clark and my dad's first name is Clark.  So we kind of get both sides of the family with that one.  

6- When I told people I was naming our baby "Andrew" they asked if we would call him "Andy" or "Drew."  I told people that I really love the name Andrew, but I wouldn't feel offended if I got a nickname, but I would prefer "Drew" over "Andy" because we have a little girl in our ward named "Andie."  Well, apparently I never talked it over with Darin, because right when Andrew was born he said,

 "Hi Andy!" 

 I still call him Andrew, but he may be an Andy instead of Drew.

Happy 2 months Andrew!  

Cousin Science Day

In the summer of 2007, I taught several week long science summer camps at the University of Utah.

I was thinking of some of the classes I taught and I thought it would be fun to do some of the activities with Matt and Lindsay.  And, since I was going to the work, I thought I'd invite the cousins over for the science day too. 

 I'm glad that I did, because we had SO. MUCH. FUN!!

We made solar ovens and cooked pizza and s'mores inside.

We made "molecules" with marshmallows and toothpicks.

We blew up balloons using baking soda and vinegar.

We made "Elephant Toothpaste."

(If you haven't done this before, you might want to look it up, it was really fun!)

Then we ate our pizza and s'mores from our ovens.

And last, the grand finale, diet coke and mentos.

Yay for science and cousins!

Happy Father's Day Darin!!

Sunday was a little crazy.

I did make Darin some Eggs Benedict before church...yummy no?

But then Darin was in meetings, mission farewells, visiting with family, etc. for the rest of the day.

So we celebrated on Monday.

We gave him a few little gifts.

Matt and Lindsay gave him his cards.

And hugs.

For dinner I thought I'd make hamburgers, but Darin does that best, so he ended up making his own father's day dinner.  And I' have to say, they were the BEST burgers I've EVER had!!  (Bacon bleu cheese burger...yummo!)

I did, however, make him this rhubarb pie, which I thought turned out tasty!

I couldn't ask for a better dad for our kids!

Bountiful Rotary Club Car Show

We went to the Bountiful "Coats for Kids" Car Show this weekend.

We started out by watching the parade.

There were a lot of cool cars.

Matt loved this "fire car."  

And he loved dancing to the music that was coming from the car.

I had a hard time keeping Lindsay with me.

I think that she thought it was fun to run down the middle of the road....until she fell.

I think Andrew liked the show too.

This is our neighbor, Ed.  He has two old cars and we got a little show right in front of our house!

Although I loved looking the at the cars, I think my favorite part was when Lindsay dashed away from me and yelled, "Princess!!"  I wish I would have had a camera on the other side of this hug to capture Lindsay's face.  So so cute!!

It was a really fun night!
