Pirate's Cove Anniversary Suite!

I know that a lot of people think this is really dumb, but for several of our anniversaries I have recreated a different "Anniversary Inn" room at home. Several anniversaries I have been nursing and we couldn't go out for long.  This year I knew we were going to be really busy with Youth Conference so I did a room a little early this year.

Here are a few rooms I've done in the past.

Our first year I did the "Jungle Room"

Another year I did the "Presidential Suite"

Another year was the "Hawaiian Hideaway"

One of my favorites was our "Wild Wild West Room"

This year, I did the "Pirate's Cove."

7 Years of Martial Bliss!

Last week was our 7th wedding anniversary!
I am SO lucky to be married to this guy!
I am so thankful that Darin is the man that I ended up with.
He is nearly perfect and he is perfect for me!

For our anniversary we went on a date to City Creek.
We tried a new restaurant called Brio.
It was tasty!

About an hour before Darin got home from work I decided it would be fun to do another "Anniversary Inn" room.  I called my sister, Heather, and she said to the the "Hawaiian Hideaway."   (And she let me borrow a bunch of her stuff--thanks Heather). So, in 60 minutes, and without spending a dime, we put together a little Hawaiian Hideaway.

Happy Anniversary my sweet!

6 Year Anniversary!

Six years.
I still feel like the luckiest girl in the world to be married to Darin.

We had a wonderful anniversary!

It started out with this beautiful bouquet!

Then we went to "The Garden" for dinner.
It was my first time there and I really liked it!

We got a nice seat with a view of the temple.

The food was delicious too!
We stated out with spinach artichoke dip with fried pita bread.
It was tasty!

I am a lover of salmon salads...this may have been the best one I've ever had!

Darin had the Garden Lasagna, and it was really yummy too.
(But, I think Darin was a little disappointed when he realized it was meatless, ha ha).

I kind of love this guy, like A LOT!!!!

Since Andrew is still nursing, we really can't be away for too long, and especially no over-nighters.
So, I recreated the "Wild West Room" at Anniversary Inn.
It may be silly, but I had fun doing it.

Happy Anniversary Darin!!
You are "WANTED" by ME!!  Love you!!

Quixotic Getaway

We celebrated our 5th Anniversary BIG TIME this year!!
We started by checking in to the Armstrong Mansion.
(Thanks to getting a steal of a deal on KSL deals)

Then we went to Ruth’s Chris.  One word: AMAZING!!
When we got to our table they had  scattered rose pedals on our candle lit table,
and a card that said “Happy Anniversary.”

We had steak, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, and three cheese Au Gratin potatoes for dinner.

They told us that since it was our anniversary they’d also like to give us dessert!
(Umm, free dessert? Yes please!)

We got the Crème Brûlée with fresh berries,
and they wrote “Happy Anniversary” in chocolate on the plate.

The food was incredible!  Really, it is fabulous!
However, we’ll probably never go there again because it is crazy expensive.
Luckily for us we were given a gift card that helped with the bill. :)

After dinner we went to Gateway to see Brave.
(Thanks Ben and Kristy for the gift card).
It was a cute show.

After the movie we went back to the mansion.
Did I mention that our room was AWESOME!!?

Here’s our room and if you look to the right that door leads to the bathroom.

But wait!  Then there is a secret staircase that leads to…
An attic with a Jacuzzi!!

They also had these cool old suitcases all around our room.

Going back down the staircase.

In the morning we had breakfast with a berry cobbler, casserole, fresh fruit, and a parfait.

Only two other rooms were being used so we got to peak in the other rooms.  I liked ours the best!

I loved the details throughout the whole mansion.  Check out the ceiling.

If you make a reservation to stay one night at the mansion (Sunday through Thursday)
and then post about your experience on your blog, you can get at 25% discount!

You can click HERE to view the rooms and make a reservation!

After we checked out of the mansion we went and walked around City Creek.

It is beautiful!

What!?  Did I get to marry that handsome guy!?  Lucky me!

Before we picked up the kids we got to do sealings in the Bountiful temple.
A perfect end to our little getaway.

The whole getaway was so fun.  I just LOVE being with Darin.
I laughed so hard.  He's always saying and doing the funniest things.
I couldn't have asked for a better anniversary even if it was a little Quixotic!

Love you my handsome, smart, kind, giving, spiritual, strong man of my dreams!!

Thank you SO SO much mom and dad for watching
Matt and Lindsay!!

5 Years

This week is our 5 year anniversary!
Part of me can't believe it has been that long.
Another part of me can't believe it hasn't been longer!

But one thing is for sure, it has been a WONDERFUL 5 years!!
Is the "honeymoon phase" really supposed to last this long!?

Thanks Darin for making life so much FUN!

Here is a slideshow of our past 5 years.

--If you don't care to look at the pics, at least enjoy the song, its a good one!--

Happy Anniversary Darin!!
