First Day of School

Matt started 4th grade today, and Lindsay started 2nd.
It was the first year I didn't cry when I sent them off.
It is hard to be sad when they are both so excited!
Now I just have to wait two more hours to hear the report!

Back to School Feast

Tonight we had our annual "Back to School Feast!"
(to see our feasts of the past, click HERE).

This year our family theme is,
"I CAN DO AND SAY HAPPY THINGS EACH DAY!"

We started with a dinner that got rained out, so we hustled inside to finish the meal.
During dinner, we announced the new theme and sang the song, "I Am like a Star."

We talked about our goals for the upcoming year, and our hopes for our kids to be like the stars in that song.  After dinner, we ate blew out a candle on our cake to make a wish for the new school year.  (Their mother may have asked each of them to "smell the cake" then gave their face a little push).
Following cake, the kids got their new key chains, and Darin gave each of us a Father's Blessing.

We are so excited for the 2018-2019 school year!

Davis County Fair

We had a fun time at the Davis County Fair.  The best part was a few days before the fair, I asked Darin if he wanted to enter his blackberries (he has taken first place the past four years), but he decided four blue ribbons was enough.  When we walked in the produce awards section, Darin said, “I am kind of sad I didn’t enter the blackberries.”  But, I surprised him and entered him without his knowing, and he took FIRST place again!  It was a great day!!

Bits and Pieces

We had the sister missionaries over for waffles!
They are SO cute!  WE love them!

We rearranged the boys' room and we love how it turned out!

We had LOTS of tomatoes this year in our garden!

Lucy was particularly cute and happy this Sunday morning!
