Back to School Feast 2020

This year for our 2020 theme Darin and I picked "See the good, be the good."  We talked about making lemonade out of lemons, finding ways to focus on the good, especially when there is so much negativity in the world. We taught the kids that when there is no good to be found, that they can be the good, and cheer up others and find ways to serve.  We shared with them President Hinckley's quote, "put a smile on your face. 'Accentuate the positive.' Look a little deeper for the good. Go forward in life with a twinkle in your eye and a smile on your face, with great and strong purpose in your heart. Love life." -Gordon B.  Hinckley

I shared with the kids a story about my great grandma Bert when their family was going to have to move from Utah. The kids were terribly sad to leave but grandma said, "This is so wonderful!  We get an opportunity to make new friends, see new things, and live in the mission field!"  A few weeks later, the move was canceled and the kids, again, were sad they were missing out on new adventures, but grandma said, "Oh!  What a blessing! We get to stay in the home we love!  We get to keep our wonderful friend and neighbors and live close to all of your cousins!  And we get to live right in the bosom of zion!"  I love that story, and always looking for the good in all things!  I hope my kids can keep that attitude especailly this year with all of the unknowns ahead with school, covid, and more!
