Scary Movies at the Cabin

We took up a few of our friends to the cabin to watch scary movies this weekend.

5 families. 10 adults. 13 kids.  Full house.

Luckily, all the men got off work early and we got a head start.

We had a yummy soup, salad, and bread dinner.

Then, we watched our scary movies.

The kids watched "Hocus Pocus" upstairs while the adults watch "Wait Until Dark" downstairs.

In the morning the boys went fishing then we all had breakfast.

We went for a short hike, saw the fairy forest, ate lunch, and just hung around the cabin.

It was a really fun weekend!

Feasting Upon the Word

Recently, the 2016 mutual theme was announced.

“Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life”

It was our turn to host the bishopric fireside.  We decided to introduce the new theme with a focus on "feasting upon the word."  (Even though I believe next years focus will be on "press forward with a steadfastness in Christ").

After our brief spriritual thought, we divided the YW/YM into groups, gave them some candy, a cake, and a scripture, and they had to decorate a cake based on the scripture story.

I couldn't believe how creative the kids were!  Their cakes were awesome!

Perfect Pair

This weekend I hosted a bridal shower for one of my old Young Women, Rachel.

I did a "Perfect Pair" theme using pears.

It was a fun afternoon, and always great to be with that cute girl!
