Tsukiji Fish Market

The fish market was amazing!  It really was so surreal being there.  I had seen so many pictures and movies about it, but it was crazy actually being there.  We woke up really early before the sun to go check it out.  The traffic was crazy.  Carts, trucks, and scooters going in every direction and all driving fast.  (I don’t know how they didn’t have any accidents).  Darin and I had a happy accident and accidentally wondered into a part of the fish market that was supposed to be for buyers only and not tourists.  Everyone was really kind to us and didn’t say anything, but we noticed the signs as we were on our way out!

After wandering the markets we had THE BEST SASHIMI EVER for breakfast!  Really!  I don’t think it comes any fresher than that!  As we left, we noticed the lines for these restaurants were hours long!  (And each restaurant only seats maybe 6 to 8 people right at the counter).  Definitely a highlight of the trip!

Gifu Castle

Gifu was amazing!  It was one of the pretties parks I've ever seen.  I am so glad that mom and dad knew about this place because it never came up as a "tourist attraction."  It was so calm and peaceful.  We took a ride up to the top of the mountain and took a little walk even higher to get to the castle.  The views were AMAZING!  Pictures don't even do this justice.  After the castle, we walked the grounds and ate some teriyaki mochi balls.  Delicious!  Another great day in Japan! 

 

Toyota Museum

We went to the Toyota Museum in Toyota City, Japan!

It was pretty incredible.  There were so many cars!!

Ferris Wheel Park

On our way to Gifu, we saw this giant ferris wheel in the distance.  We decided to make a side stop and go find it.  It was part of the cutest park!  We stopped for a ride, some yummy food, and walking around the beautiful grounds!  We saw some kids feeding the koi and after a couple minutes the cute kids shared their fish food with us.  They were darling! 

These "French Fries" were crazy!  They were each about a foot long!  They used some kind of potato batter to make them.  

Hong Kong

The first day in Japan actually ended up being in Hong Kong.  We missed our connecting flight and spent the day in Hong Kong.  The airlines put us up in a nice hotel and fed us really well.  We missed having the extra day with mom and dad in Japan, but we also loved our night in Hong Kong.
