I Got My Fig Fix!!

When I was in 3rd grade, our Librarian read the book, “The Sweetest Fig” to us.  I LOVED that book!  The illustrations are beautiful, the story is well written, and it has a fun twist that I wasn’t expecting as an eight year old.

That was back in 1993, and since then I have wanting to try a fresh fig--almost 20 years!

Well, Monday morning there was a knock on the door, with a zip lock back of fresh figs!  My sister bought a box from Costco and she kindly shared them with me!

We tried some raw, and then I found a recipe for “Blue Cheese Soufflé with figs and honey” so we decided to give that a try.  I’ve also wanted to make a soufflé for a long time, so this was a perfect time.  Let me tell you—they aren’t as difficult as people lead on.  The only hard part is getting a picture before it falls.  They are gorgeous right when they come out.  These pictures don’t do it justice.

So, here are some pictures of our fun with figs!  Thanks Heather for providing the figs!

My first fig!

Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point

Today I went to the Dinosaur Museum with my SIL Heather!  We went on a $2 Tuesday, and boy was it BUSY!!  But hey, we saved $16!  It was so cute when the kids (mainly Matt and Annie) saw each other that ran and hugged like they do in the movies.  Then all four kids (without any coaxing from parents)  held hands in a line.

Matt has been talking about “how much much fun the museum was!” and how “Annie and Gracie are so nice to me.”  We love those girls—and that cute Heather too!  Thanks for coming with us and braving the crowd and carrying Lindsay the whole time!  We love you guys!

Splash Pad

Tonight for FHE my mom planned a dinner at the splash pad.
The food was delicious, the weather was nice, and the company, well, you can’t beat it!

Escape to the Cabin

We had a wonderful trip to the cabin.
I love it there.

We started out with tin foil dinners and fresh peaches.

Then we had popcorn and hot chocolate while watching The Muppets.

We didn't just like the movie, we LOVED it!!

So much that Darin decided that THIS is our family’s new theme song.
(Seriously, go watch it, I LOVE the song, and the video makes me laugh every time!)

In the morning Darin let me sleep in, and made breakfast for us!
Our “bed head” family.

Next, Darin and Matthew went fishing.

While they were fishing, Lindsay and I went for a little hike.

The leaves are just starting to change!  I’m SOO excited!  I can’t wait to come back up!

On our hike back to the cabin, Matt decided he wanted to carry Linds.
Surprisingly he did a really good job!

When we got back, we did a lot of relaxing.
We did puzzles, games, coloring, watching movies, dancing, and more.

Of course, we had to take a family shot before heading back to the city.
(We took this picture by balancing the camera on a pile of wood, setting it to auto timer, and running into place).

Back Yard Concert

This is seriously one of my favorite events of the whole summer!
The Proctor Backyard Concert!

The whole Proctor family is so talented!
This year Chris and Jeff played the guitar and sang, and Sue did an awesome job on the violin.

But I REALLY missed Lindsay—not just for her singing!

Early in the concert my Lindsay had a stinking diaper,
so I asked Darin for the keys, at which point we realized that we had locked the keys in the car.
When I told Matthew that we locked the keys in the car he said,
“That’s GREAT!  Now we never have to go home!”
Needless to say, he was disappointed when we called the locksmith.

My other favorite Matt line from the night was when I took him inside to go to the bathroom,
he said,
“Mom, I think that we should get THIS house next time.”
Ha ha!  I WISH!!

Matt loving "the music party."

Jeff rocking out!

Mom and Matt.

Lindsay was SOO funny!
She HATED these spicy chips, but she kept eating them, then pulling this angry face!

Chris singing a little Coldplay.

The weather couldn't have been more perfect!
Just wish I would have gotten a picture of the beautiful sunset!

Thanks Proctors for a WONDERFUL night!!
